Why We Exist 

Bringing Women Together, Shaping the Future of Finance

Women Leaders in Finance (WIF) is a global platform dedicated to advancing women's leadership, influence, and participation in decision-making positions in economic and financial fields while promoting gender-responsive policies, institutions, and financial systems.

Founded in 2024 by a group of senior Brazilian women leaders who came together during the United Nations General Assembly in New York, WIF emerged from a shared recognition that, despite significant progress, women remain underrepresented in positions of power across financial institutions, economic policymaking bodies, and corporate leadership. Since that moment, WIF has taken part in several international conferences.

Beyond Individual Progression

Women make critical contributions to shaping economies, managing financial systems, driving innovation, and delivering sustainable development outcomes. Yet barriers to leadership, unequal access to networks and opportunities, and persistent gender biases continue to limit women's participation in the spaces where strategic economic and financial decisions are made.

WIF was created to help address these challenges by fostering a vibrant global community of women leaders and allies across the public, private, and multilateral sectors. Through knowledge exchange, professional development, networking, mentorship, research, and high-level dialogue, the platform supports women in strengthening their leadership journeys while amplifying their expertise, achievements, and influence. Diverse leadership leads to better decisions, broader perspectives, and more resilient financial and economic systems that are better equipped to respond to the complex challenges of our time. WIF seeks to accelerate progress toward a future where women have equal opportunities to shape economic and financial agendas, influence decision-making, and contribute to building more inclusive, equitable, and prosperous societies.
